Together with Vos Logistics we celebrate 5000 units successfully transported via rail shuttles

Lasting partnership between Vos Logistics and CFL multimodal manifested by reaching milestone of 5000th shuttle transport, yielding a total of 2.008.000 kg CO2 emission savings

Just over two years ago, Vos Logistics exclusively partnered with CFL multimodal in an innovative move aimed at improving the transportation of non-craneable trailers. Today, we're proud to announce that we've completed our 5000th unit transported via shuttle in September, showing the successfulness of this partnership.
Together with CFL multimodal, Vos Logistics found a solution to the problem of transporting non-craneable bulk semi-trailers by train. They discovered the Vega® system, which enables loading semi-trailers onto a platform and then using a standard crane to put them on a standard train wagon. Modifications to the wagon, securing the bulk trailers, was required and the train platforms in Lyon and Luxembourg were prepared to accommodate this innovative approach.

Luc Baronheid, Senior Sales Manager for CFL multimodal, reflects on our journey together, saying, “Our achievements with Vos Logistics reflect the true spirit of collaboration and continuous improvement”. Since we joined forces, a lot has happened. Together with CFL multimodal we worked hard to fix technical problems and challenges. In March 2021, we reached a big goal: the first trip from Luxembourg to Lyon and back using this innovative system. It has contributed to a reduction of roughly 2.008.000 kg in CO2 emissions and we’re proud that we added another sustainable transport option to our service portfolio.

Marc van Alphen, Cluster Director Bulk, emphasizes that “The development of this rail shuttle is a seamless fit with our sustainability agenda, and is also a perfect proposition on the request of our customers for more sustainable transport, both in saving CO2, as well as improving the payload of the transport. We look forward to continuing this partnership and together with CFL multimodal build new rail connections for non-craneable semi-trailers in Europe, connecting the south of France with the Sea-ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam in the near future”.

The celebration of our 5000th unit on the bulk rail-shuttle is only the start of a long term innovative and strategic partnership. This accomplishment shows the hard work and knowledge of both Vos Logistics and CFL multimodal in leading the way for new logistics solutions. Every shuttle has helped us to improve our process, sharpen our abilities, and strengthen our dedication to eco-friendly transportation options.
